Dinner

Made it as far as Mom and Dad’s now and it is, as always, our perfect respite and love-boosting stop. Today though, tops it all.

There was not a week, not a single week, in South America that went by without Vaughn saying, “Remember when Poppie said he’d take me fishing when we get back? That’ll be fun. I’ve never been fishing. Remember when Poppie said he’d take me?”

Guess who just caught dinner. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Just started reading your blog, now that you’ve come home. While I did not yet leave to travel with my daughter, I met my husband traveling 10 years ago. We were both on a year away. I found coming home very tough – still tough – and I’m wondering… in the months to come how you will find it. You changed in so many ways, because travel changes you. Will continue to read the old and the new and will be curious how it goes. :))) Looks, so far, like a great trip.

    • Thanks for reading! I am trying to articulate this initial process of reverse culture-shock, it’s not easy as you already know. It will be interesting to see how things pan out in the months ahead, and I do plan to keep sharing that process on here. I love that you and your husband met traveling! It is an amazing thing. Look forward to staying in touch with you as we go forward.

I’ll hope we’ll find a way to get away like you guys did – my daughter is 6 and my hope is that she will grow up a world traveler! My husband is from Ireland so she’s got three trips there under her belt. We’d love to go to Ecuador. Anyhow, welcome home! I will be continue reading! ๐Ÿ™‚
